Emphasizing the education of human rights, in particular the rights of children, the Human Rights Defender’s Staff is implementing an awareness program for students of the 8th and higher grades in public educational institutions of Artsakh.
The need for human rights education is enshrined in the UN Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training, which states that human rights education and training concerns all parts of society, including pre-school and school-aged persons.
Within the framework of the program the HRD Staff present the students the priority areas of the Ombudsman’s activities and his\her powers.
Through role plays involving children, cases of alleged human rights violations and possible ways of redressing them are examined.
The goal of the program implementation is to provide education on human rights and increase the level of awareness among schoolchildren.
